Jesus teaches us not to worry about tomorrow, because each day has its own troubles.

Today is a gift that Jesus gives us—not so we get distracted by everything happening around us, like society, the news, neighbors, or the economy—but so we can look inside ourselves. It’s in our hearts where we often fight silent battles: questions about the future sneak in, like “What will happen tomorrow?”, “Will I be able to handle my responsibilities?”, “Will what I have be enough?” These worries can settle in our minds without us even noticing, clouding our hearts and stealing our ability to see the hope we really have: the chance to find deep rest and security for our souls. When we give in to these worries, anxiety takes away our peace and the joy of the present moment.

Worrying about tomorrow usually shows up as nervousness, fear, and uncertainty. We stress about things that haven’t happened yet, imagine dark scenarios, and end up missing out on the good that God is giving us today. Living this way doesn’t help us—it just wears us out inside. It makes us less patient, drains our energy, and can even pull us away from the people we love and from Jesus himself.

In His endless love, Jesus reminds us not to be anxious about the day that hasn’t come yet, because every day brings its own challenges and opportunities. The past is already gone, and the present is a one-of-a-kind treasure—the only moment where we can truly choose how to respond, how to be grateful, and how to trust, even when things are tough or when we’re enjoying peace. No matter how much we plan, the future always has surprises; worrying too much only steals our strength and joy.

So, what can we do? Try to live one day at a time, focusing on what we can do right now and letting go of what we can’t control. This doesn’t mean we’re careless—it means we know our limits and make room for peace. Life gets lighter when we let go of the weight of what hasn’t happened yet or what’s already in the past. This way, we can open our hearts to the hope Jesus offers and hold tight to the truth that He always takes care of us.
